Over the summer, Congressman Paul Ryan, the author of a plan to gut Medicaid and Medicare which passed the U.S. House of Representatives, was caught at a Washington restaurant consuming two $350 bottles of wine with a hedge fund manager
Unbelievably given the controversy stirred by Ryan’s conspicuous consumption of expensive wine, Ryan is the special guest Monday at a high dollar fundraiser at a local wine bar for State Senator Van Wanggaard.
To call attention to the hypocrisy of gutting the BadgerCare and Medicare programs and partaking in such a display of conspicuous consumption, advocates and local residents will hold a protest outside the event. Advocates will serve Paul Ryan-branded “wine” (non-alcoholic) which average people can afford. The wine bar fundraiser at which Ryan is appearing costs $125-$250 to attend.
