More Wisconsin Counties Vote Against Gov. Walker Refusing Federal Funds for BadgerCare

Four additional Wisconsin counties voted yesterday calling on the legislature to overturn Governor Walker’s rejection of billions in federal funds for BadgerCare. Winnebago county, Oneida County, Lincoln County and Marathon county voted last night to join the growing list of organizations statewide that has spoken against the Governor’s BadgerCare plan.

Today the legislature's budget writing committee (Joint Finance) will likely approve a $14 million increase for Gov. Walker's failed jobs agency, WEDC. With that additional money WEDC would receive $128 million over the next two years We believe the recent audit and 2 years of repeated failure of the public trust require immediate action to close WEDC and create a publicly accountable and transparent state agency focused on economic development and job creation.

On a media call today, county officials from throughout Wisconsin pushed for the Wisconsin Legislature to overturn the decision by Governor Walker to reject billions in federal Medicaid funds for the state’s BadgerCare program.
