Citizen Action meets with Eau Claire State Rep. Jodi Emerson on topic of healthcare and the BadgerCare Public Option Bill
Citizen Action members from the Northwestern Wisconsin Organizing Cooperative shared their healthcare stories with 91st Assembly District Representative Jodi Emerson on Sept 10th in Eau Claire, and discussed the BadgerCare Public Option Bill.
After our conversation, we remain hopeful that she will support the bill in the next legislative session, even if that commitment has not yet been made.
Members in her district are encouraged to reach out to her office with your thoughts on the bill and the importance of making sure everyone in Wisconsin has access to affordable health insurance. Representative Emerson’s office number is (608) 237-9191.

Milwaukee G20 Rally: Fair Trade for Working Families, Wednesday, September 30th, 10:00am – 11:30am
As trade officials from around the world gather in Milwaukee for the G20 Trade Ministerial, join Wisconsin working families demanding fair trade policies that finally put the interests of people and communities ahead of greedy corporations.
Like many places, Milwaukee is still dealing with the devastating economic impacts of deindustrialization and the ongoing race-to-the-bottom caused by corporate-driven trade deals that offshore jobs and drive down wages. As policymakers continue to advance backroom deals and other schemes that enrich and empower billionaires and CEOs, our communities pay the price.
Please join Citizen Action, labor and civil society organizations outside the G20 meeting to call for a new trade model that creates good-paying jobs, raises wages, enforces worker rights, strengthens family farms, protects the environment, enables A.I. accountability and otherwise puts people over profits.

Wisconsin broadband fails rural areas after massive amounts of federal and state money was thrown at private companies to complete the job over the last two decades with little accountability, revealing the incompetence of neoliberal economic government policies that rely on the voluntary compliance of monopoly corporations.
We conclude this week by strongly encouraging a Vote No on the DEI state referendum this November and discuss how its passage will constrain our ability to fight the sky high Black infant mortality rate, which is a public health crisis.
